Gone are the days when TOEFL was the only English language test accepted by US colleges. The International English Language Testing System (IELTS) is now recognized by over 2500 US colleges and universities including all of the Ivy League schools and the California State University graduate school system. Because the IELTS is also accepted by most UK institutions and almost exclusively by Australians schools, international students undecided on an international study destination often prefer to take the IELTS over TOEFL. IELTS is jointly managed by British Council, IDP: IELTS Australia and the University of Cambridge ESOL Examinations (Cambridge ESOL) through more than 500 locations in 120 countries.
