I am holding H1B right now and I have elected to file tax as a resident alien for the past three years and have claimed Earned Income Tax Credit for the past two years (my qualified children and everything else) and possibly this year too. But my LC was just approved and is about to apply for I-140, and wonder whether claiming EITC will effect my I-140 and I-485?

Hi,

I want to ask a quick question. Do international students have to pay federal and state tax too? Because I heard that international students are exempt from Federal and State Tax.
Thank you.
