I am an Indian International student and I totally agree with the fact that Americans and other international students are at a loss due to these consultancies. It's a shame that people justify faking resumes by saying they have obligations or they pay high tuition fees.Since they decide to go unethical way they truly deserve to be treated like a slave. It's your life and it was your choice to make it hell. I feel bad for fellow American friends who also are having a hard time in this economy to find jobs. I am having a hard time finding jobs here and I might have to go back to India. But what is so bad about it. I got 5 Desi consultants after my life to join them but I will not join them. An unethical person can not live happily anywhere be it India or US.

Honest Opinion at my end.
First of all this business is illegal agreed. 2nd: US government does put lot of contraints to indians. First: Indians are not qualified for green-card because of overpopulation of them in the USA already.
3rd when we come to USA for education we have mindset that we want to do something for our parents. Give them also money at the same time living here. Plus 90% indians have loans that they need to pay back in their country. Now OPT has 3 months. No one hires anyone without networking. The honest truth. Networking or experience. Gotta have something. To some extend these consultancy helps International student. Okay they fake your resume and the projects are hard for you to tackle. but after sometime you get used to the industry. you know what is right and wrong. All you need is starting point.
I would say use two months of OPT to find job on your behalf. if not then go for them.
So, assuming survival of the fittest everything is fair. Because we international students sacrifice so much to come to the USA. we believe that this is the country of fortune. So it is. but if you dont get anything. Seriously. you will be shattered.

"US Companies in US need to remove 5-8 years experience from their job requirements and hire fresh graduates from Universities and train the new employees and all this crap will go away..."

You said it very well. Nobody could say it better than these. And probably for this reason, all those desi companies fake thier candidates resume and those fortune 500 companies actually deserve that (very much).

I am someone who has joined these consulting companies and still involved with one of them. The one's I joined are involved in a lot of lies but both are good in one area. Once on a job they pay you the agreed amount without fail. Trust me with 50% of these consulting companies even getting your paycheck while on a job is difficult. My earlier roomie used to get paid 3 months late (Jan paycheck in april) and sometimes didnt get it. To change this scenario of fake consultants there are a few ways. Laws dont need to change, they are already in place but people are breaking them since its extremely difficult to catch the culprits. Companies have to understand that you dont need people with 10 years experience to do something which a person with 1-2 yrs experience can do. They ask for ridiculous amount of experience which I am 100% sure would remain unfulfilled if everyone is genuine. If this does not change I dont see any major change in the consulting world in the near future. I started with a fake exp of 5 yrs but now I have worked for 4 years and last years have been in an extremely good client site. Even now I find it extremely hard to find positions that are looking for people with 3-4 yrs experience. I am aware US is not there to feed foreigners but one has to understand what people go through to get here. Once they do that people do anything and everything to stay and earn here. People who are lucky get hired by the client or by some bigger cleaner consulting company like IBM, Deloitte etc. I am still waiting for that to happen to me.

Everything that was said about these consulting companies are true. They keep 10 - 15 people in one big house with 4 rooms and sometimes 5-6 people in 1 BHK apts. Nowadays they dont pay a single penny during the fake 2 month training (although have heard some companies pay for grocery). They provide the material for training and its upto the consultant to train him/her self. Once at the client side the consultant manages somehow to get through the initial period. I remember the time when I had to dial into a conference call the first time, I looked so stupid. Although this fake consulting business is not a correct thing, both legally and morally I dont see this scenario changing unless these big companies change themselves.

Be careful saying "worst part is the US degree is not at all useful i can say it is 100% worthless degree". I am an international, went school here in United States of America, got a awesome job, quit that job and opened up a company in United States of America. And I am happy. I think the problem with you is the cheating mentality and laziness.

This article is very true and quite accurate. I know of such companies here in NJ but some are better than others when it comes to guest house and training. Some have more comprehensive training programs in the US given by their own consultants who have been working on a few projects and are pro’s now. They basically transfer knowledge to the fresh recruits.
What's sad is that I feel the big Fortune 500’s know about this and so does immigration but they don’t care. As long as the job gets done and someone is making money everyone is happy.
When they get these new International students (VICTIMS) on board with a H1 they market them for a very low rate that no G.C/Citizen will work for. In this way the end client is happy and the consulting firm is making a good commission off them.
My advice to International students is be smart. Do what you have to do to get your H1, once you have done one project with a firm like this, just jump the company, that’s what most consultants do. Find a better paying consulting firm. You are not bonded or slave labor, you have every right to transfer your H1 to another firm. Don’t even tell your current employer, just kick them in the ass once you are done with them and don’t make any contact with them. They will give you all kinds of EMPTY Threats that will never stand up in a court of law.
You don’t need to inform them that you are leaving or have transferred your H1, just leave. They deserve it.

If they really bother you by sending many emails, just tell them if you dont stop I will REPORT YOU TO HOME LAND SECURITY ! they will stop right away.

I am a 47yr old native Californian and engineering technician that likes Indian people. They are not disruptive to our culture and make California a better place to live. I find them hard working and like their family values, their food is good too. I hope we get more of the smart and moral Indians and less of the dumb and immoral ones:)
